Hello, I’m Floyd, your 12412 unit.
What’s so special about this gray, utilitarian box with knobs on it? Well, it is an EMI mastering EQ that was once at a place called Abbey Road. And some pretty famous signals passed through it. I asked our head technician what it sounds like. He said, “Mid ‘70’s Pink Floyd? That’s what it sounds like.” So, it’s going to play “Wish You Were Here?” when I power it up? He went on to describe it as focused, tight and musical. All the meat - very little pudding.

Finally, it’s the long awaited automation for the API 1608 automation. Enjoy the music bed with this vid. Reminds me of Tron or maybe a fresh theme for Pac Man. Get your skinny tie on and watch the faders dance!
It sounds like the name of a 60’s TV Cop-Drama, or the address of a long-gone Hollywood studio, but 1176 Sunset Boulevard is the very real address of Vintage King’s new Los Angeles digs (opening this fall). The nod to Bill Putnam’s famous compressor is a happy coincidence. Yes, it is the actual original address of the space, and what better one would there be for Vintage King’s LA HQ? 1073 Maybe? Nah! 1176 is POIFEKT!
